Delays after major road in Preston closed due to accident

A major road in Preston has reopened after it was closed when a bus hit a woman near to Preston train station, say police.

The accident happened on Fishergate just before 8am on Monday, July 9.

Police say the woman, who is believed to be in her 60s has not been seriously injured in the accident.

The road has now been closed between Butler Street and Fishergate Hill.

A spokesman for the police said: "A woman was hit by a bus near to the railway station.

"Ambulance services are on the scene.

"The accident is causing significant disruption and their are delays around the area.

"Thankfully, it looks like the woman is going to be ok and has escaped with some bumps and bruises."

The road is believed to have reopened shortly before 9am.
