Crews calls to two rubbish fires in Ribbleton - and how you can avoid causing them
On the back of fire crews attending the scene of two rubbish fires, Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service are calling on how to prevent wildfires.
One fire engine from Preston was called to Cromwell Road in Ribbleton at 6:30pm on Friday evening (April 20) after reports of a grass fire, where the crew extinguished it with a hose reel.
A second fire engine from Preston was in attendance off Hawthorn Way, also Ribbleton, at around midnight after reports of a gentleman burning rubbish. It was also extinguished.
Afterwards, Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service took to Twitter saying: "This weekend, please take care if you are walking out on the moors.
"Traditionally, this is usually the time of the year that we receive the most calls about wildfires."
Along with the tweet they posted an image, seen above, offering guidance on how wildfires can be avoided.
