Police say a black Fiat Punto over-turned at 8.18am close to the Helter-Skelter roundabout at the end of the motorway in Blackpool, before a one vehicle crash was also reported on the west-bound carriageway, close to Kirkham, two minutes later.
The Punto’s female driver suffered minor cuts in the crash, although the busy route is expected to be closed for some time while her car is cleared away.
A video taken by one motorist showed traffic tailing back from the scene of the crash, while another described the queue as being ‘a mile long’.
Traffic England said the roundabout should be reopen and back to normal by around 10am.
