An appeal has been launched after a woman suffered serious neck injuries in a crash in Clifton.

Police say the accident happened at around 4.50pm on Sunday May 20 on Church Lane when a silver BMW 320i is reported to have collided with a wall.

The car was travelling along the road in the direction of Salwick.

One passenger suffered serious injuries to her neck and had to be cut from the vehicle. She was taken to Royal Preston Hospital where she remains in a serious but stable condition.

Two other passengers were treated at hospital for minor injuries but have since been discharged.

Police say the driver of the car fled the scene but has now been located.

PC Lee Taylor of Lancashire’s Road Policing Unit said: “This collision has resulted in one woman receiving significant injuries.

“This has happened in a rural location, but we’d appeal to anyone with any information, no matter how small, to please let us know. If you were travelling on this road around the time of the collision and have any dash cam footage, we would also be interested in viewing this.”

Nobody has been arrested in connection with the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting log 1190 of 20 May.
