Reader Lee Parkinson sent us these photos of what appears to be a tornado at Parlick, in the Forest of Bowland.

The twister was spotted at around 9.30 last night.

Although more generally associated with America, around 30 tornados a year are reported in Britain, however they are generally much weaker than their US counterparts, which have been known to carry off people, cars, livestock and even buildings.

A weather warning for Lancashire has been extended into tomorrow, with the Met Office predicting more downpours and the possibility of flash flooding.
