Preston will become a food-lover’s paradise this weekend.

Tomorrow (Saturday) sees the return of the Lancashire Market in Friargate – and at night the Dine With The Stars event.

Both are organised by the Preston City Centre Business Improvement District.

Celebrity chef Aldo Zilli said today he could not wait to enjoy the culinary delights of Preston and the chance to meet the locals.

On Saturday night, the chef will join Coronation Street star Kym Marsh and fellow celebrity chef Ed Baines on a tour of some of the city’s best-loved restaurants.

Aldo said: “I am really looking forward to sampling some of the best food Preston has to offer during my visit this weekend.

“This is a very exciting event to be a part of and it is wonderful to see a city with such a proud history shouting about all it has to offer in this way.

“The people of Lancashire have always been a very friendly bunch whenever I have met them in the past. I am looking forward to sitting down and having a good chat with some of them over a glass of wine and some great food.”

Aldo, Kym and Ed will each sample the food on offer at four of the city’s restaurants.

The restaurants taking part in the event are Turtle Bay, Olive Tree, EastzEast, Duk Pond, Mundo Tapas, Tinos, Olive Press, Pizza Express, Tiggis, Fusion Room, Angelos and Face.

Earlier the increasingly popular Lancashire Market, returns, from 10am to 4pm. Friargate will be closed to traffic and lined with stalls selling a wide variety of Lancashire food and drinks. There will also be cookery demonstrations .
