Three radio DJs are gearing up for a wheelie good challenge when they take to a triplet bike to raise cash for St Catherine’s Hospice.
The Bee Radio breakfast show host Rob Charles, Olly Houldsworth, who presents the day time show, and Paul Winstanley, who hosts the home run show, are taking part in the charity’s Big Charity Bike Ride on May 17 on a 12ft, three-seater cycle.
We are somewhat cycling novices so weren’t sure we’re up to the 50-mile ride. We’ve adapted the route to make it 30 miles for 30 years
The ‘Three Men on a Bike’ fundraiser will see them pedal 30 miles to represent the 30 years St Catherine’s has been open.
The regular routes in the Big Charity Bike Ride are a 20-mile circuit of the Preston Guild Wheel – which is unsuitable for the triplet bike because of the various gates and crossings – a 50-mile ride through the countryside or a 75-mile challenge ride, introduced especially for the hospice’s 30th anniversary.
All start and finish from Preston Grasshoppers in Fulwood and places are still available for those interested in joining in.
Rob, who is also the voice of the radio DJ on Peter Kay’s Car Share, said: “As St Catherine’s celebrates its special birthday, we wanted to do something to show our support and contribute towards this fantastic charity.
