A man was ejected through the windscreen of a van following a crash on a Lancashire road.

Two other men were trapped and rescued by fire crews, after the van hit a tree on Sunday evening.

Emergency services were called to Runshaw Hall Lane, between Euxton and Leyland, to the one-vehicle crash at about 9.15pm.

Fire crews cut free two men using hydraulic cutting equipment, and all three were taken to Royal Preston Hospital with severe injuries.

Two passengers had face and neck injuries, while the driver had suspected head and neck injuries.

The road was closed for four hours following the crash.

Three fire engines were called to the scene, as well as the major rescue unit, ambulances and police.
