Test track redevelopment looks set to move forward

A masterplan for the 53 hectare site, to contain 1200-1250 homes, is recommended for endorsement when it goes before South Ribble’s planning committee on Wednesday.

A report states: “The overall vision would be to provide a sustainable and and inclusive neighbourhood on the site by 2030.

“Given the context of the site, the development would seek to work with the grain of the existing landcape, including retention of woodlands, trees, hedgerows and ponds as well as enhancing Green Infrastructure providing further opportunities for recreation and wildlife.”

On the eastern site of the site, abutting Moss Side Industrial Estate, would be an area of approximately five hectares for employment. In this area a Local Centre would also be built.

The dossier also states there would be four vehicular access points - the primary access formed by a new roundabout along the northern boundary of the site with Longmeanygate. A secondary access point is proposed from Paradise Lane, with a further access point west from Longmeanygate. The employment area would be served separately from Titan Way.

There have previously been concerns from nearby residents about traffic, transport links and infrastructure.

If the Masterplan is endorsed, a public consultation will begin, with opinons expressed considered and taken back to the committee.

Owners Property Capital have adopted the name Doll Lane for the development in reference to a lane which disected the land before Leyland Motors developed the track.
