Teenager, 19, dies in M6 horror crash

A TEEN killed in a horror accident on the M6 was “full of life”, her devastated family said this week.

Hayley Marie McMinn, 19, was travelling southbound near Barnacre when she lost control of her silver Ford Ka in the early hours of Sunday.

Her car collided with a crash barrier, throwing her from the vehicle.

She suffered multiple injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency service workers.

This week, her family said: “Hayley was full of life.

“She was loved so much by her family and friends and lived life to the full, with never a dull moment.

“She will be sadly missed by her mum, dad, sister and brother.”

Hayley, from Morecambe, was on the M6 between junction 32, the Broughton Interchange, and junction 33 at Galgate, when the tragedy happened. Insp Grant Smith, force incident manager at Lancashire Police, said the road was closed for several hours for accident investigation work but was reopened at around 9.30am on Sunday.

He said: “We were alerted to an accident on the M6 in the early hours of Sunday involving a single car.

“Sadly the driver of the car was killed in the accident.”

He appealed for any drivers who may have seen what caused the accident to call police on 08451 253545.
