Teen wrestled to the floor for phone

Police are appealing for information after an alleged robbery in Preston.

Around 4.15am on June 8, an 18-year-old man was sat on a bench outside the Marks and Spencer shop in Fishergate when he was approached by two men.

Police believe the pair started talking to the victim before wrestling him to the floor and taking his mobile phone.

The men then fled from the scene.

Following investigation officers arrested 18-year-old Jamie Higginson of Fylde Road, Preston, who was later charged with robbery.

The second alleged offender is described as white, aged 18 to 20, 5ft 5in tall wearing a dark hooded top and dark tracksuit bottoms.

Detectives are appealing for information and would be keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident. Anyone with information can contact police on 101 quoting crime reference SA1607487.

Higginson appeared at Preston Magistrates’ court on June 9. He will stand trial at Preston Crown Court on July 12.
