One of Preston’s busiest streets for nightlife could soon be serving up a taste of Mexico.

The city council has received a planning application from a Lancaster-based company called Go-Burrito to convert a former hairdresser’s shop in Friargate into a hot food takeaway.

Go-Burrito was launched by two ex-university students and has been a big success since opening in Lower Church Street, Lancaster more than two years ago. It now hopes to open up a second shop in Preston providing six full-time jobs and eight part-time. A plan has gone in to replace the former Karen Norris Hair premises opposite the Roper Hall nightspot with a Mexican food outlet to serve the city’s busy student quarter.
