'Supermum' praised for therapet joy

Mum-of-five Emma Lowe has twin boys, Alfie and Arthur, who were both born with Down’s Syndrome, affecting their ability to communicate and walk.

To help with their development, mum Emma decided to take part in the show to get the boys a therapy dog, or ‘therapet’, called Hunter to add joy to their childhood years.

And the response on social media since their episode aired last Thursday (August 17) has been overwhelming.

Emma told The Post: “The response has been absolutely amazing. The viewers have reacted really positively; all I’ve seen is positive words.

“I was originally panicking but I have been called a superwoman and a supermum. It’s so pleasing.”

The 36-year-old from Clifton added: “I’m trying to respond to them all individually because I’m so happy at how it has been received.

“Alfie in particular has taken to Hunter so well. It’s really amazing.

“A lot of people have really fallen in love with the dog and Alfie and Arthur.”

Jonathan Clough, who worked on the show, tweeted: “Emma is my hero!”

Twitter user Vicky O tweeted Emma saying: “You are superwoman! I’m in awe of your patience and calmness.”

Praise hasn’t been restricted to Emma. Her 13-year-old son Harry, pictured, is a registered young carer for the twins, helping his mum out on a daily basis.

Twitter user Dan Fish tweeted Emma saying: “We were watching tonight and we wanted to say how amazing your son is. A well grounded, great kid. All credit to you.”
