Plans to convert a parish hall into four homes are set to be refused by town hall planners.

Proposals have been tabled to partly demolish and rebuild St Thomas’ Church Hall, in Church Street, Garstang, and replace it with four two-bedroomed homes.

But officers at Wyre Council, who are set to debate the plans on March 6, have recommended that they be turned down.

Garstang councillor Tom Balmain requested the application be brought to committee.

Lancashire County Council and Garstang Town Council have raised concerns over highways issues.

Ten letters of objection and 33 letters of support have also been received. A report to councillors at next week’s Civic Centre meeting says while the positive aspects of the scheme are appreciated, future residents would experience a “poor standard of amenity” due to noise from a next door pub.
