Kath Hands and her colleagues at Dalmeny Hotel, in St Annes, are organising the dual event at the site of the former AFC Fylde pitch at Kellamergh Park in Warton on Sunday September 9, from noon until 5pm.All money raised will go towards UK Sepsis Trust, which Kath has supported following the death of her mum, Marian Hands in 2016. She was aged 83.The 54-year-old from Freckleton, said: “I want to raise awareness of sepsis as my mum died two years ago.“If we had found out she had sepsis earlier, things could have been different. “She had a water infection and displayed feverish and flu-like symptoms. It took seven days for her to be diagnosed as doctors thought she had a virus. We then took her to the hospital and they realised it was sepsis, telling us she would not last the day.“She battled on for 21 days before she died. The infection had spread to her kidneys and chest and she was not strong enough to fight it.“I think more people should be aware of the signs.”UK Sepsis Trust is Dalmeny Hotel’s chosen charity of the year and Kath’s work friends have already completed a sky dive for the cause. She is hoping the fun day and football match will boost funds.Kath, a mother-of-three, added: “Every year we nominate a charity and everyone agreed with my bid for UK Sepsis Trust.“The fun day will include a bouncy castle, raffle, ice cream van and drinks from Lytham Fizz bar.“The match kicks off at 1.30pm and we will have cheerleaders before the match and at half time. We will also have a children’s penalty shoot out at half time.“We have a Dalmeny team and a visitor’s team. I have spoken to a few celebrities, but no-one has confirmed.“A sepsis survivor, Julie Carman, will also be giving a talk during the day and will be set up an information stand.”Entry to the event is ticket only.People can pay on the door or get tickets, at £5 for adults, £3.50 for children and pensioners, or a family ticket at £15, from Dalmeny Hotel, South Promenade, St Annes.
