A 30-day community challenge has begun in Wright Street and Gaskell Street in Chorley.

Chorley Community Housing (CCH) is handing out free “spruce up kits” containing paint brushes, gloves, fence or masonary paint, sandpaper, uPVC cleaning wipes and a hanging topiary ball to participating tenants.

The idea came after tenants said they wanted to improve the look of the front of their homes.

Chris Richardson of CCG said: “It’s exciting to see our tenants getting stuck in and really embracing the challenge.

“I visited Wright Street this week where tenants were working together to tidy up their front gardens and paint walls and fences. There’s a real buzz about the place.”

He added: “I would encourage CCH tenants who would like to see something like this happen in their area to get in touch with us.”

The three most improved properties will receive a prize.

Judging will take place on April 1.
