Firefighters have stressed the importance of sprinkler systems after a night-time blaze at a plastics factory was kept under control until crews arrived.
The fire, late on Sunday night at industrial premises in Pittman Way, Fulwood, Preston, started in a large oven.
Two crews from Fulwood and Preston attended the scene and extinguished the flames.
Later acting watch manager Chris Archer said: “The fire was controlled by the site’s sprinkler system, without which the fire would have spread to adjacent machinery and products stored in racking.
“This incident highlighted the benefits of installing sprinklers in controlling fire in its early stages.”
The industrial oven was destroyed in the blaze and the warehouse suffered water and smoke damage.
