Cancer fighter Richard Anderson has completed a 196 from Edinburgh to Preston in five-and-a-half days.
He had planned to make the journey, in aid of Cancer Research UK in six-and-a-half days after deciding not to stop in certain towns, and to carry on walking through.
The dad of one, whose testicular cancer has spread throughout his body, said: “It went really well, it’s something I’m not going to get chance to do again, so although it was tiring, it was fun. I had a lot of time to think about mortality, my family, and how beautiful the countryside is.
“I hated the fact that my wife wasn’t with me, but I had time to reflect on my mood swings and realised that at times I need to keep my mouth closed.
“I came back a better person than when I left.”
Donations on the Justgiving site reached £446, and a further £20 was donated en route.
