'˜Sought after' comics headline at club
A comedian hailed as a cross between Eddie Izzard and Peter Kay comes to Blackpool's Laugh Out Loud Comedy Club next week.
The monthly mirthmaking, hosted at the Grand Theatre, stars Steve Shanayski, who’s been seen on Jason Manford’s Comedy Rocks TV show, will headline on Friday, July 6.
A spokesman said: “Young Mancunian Steve Shanyaski - a cross between Eddie Izzard and Peter Kay - has been charming crowds with his unique mix of gags and songs for long enough to become one of the most sought after acts in the country.
“With more TV work on the way, catch him whilst you can.
“Steve walked out on a mind-numbing office job and straight on to a comedy stage in the beginning of 2003, and has not looked back since.
Within half a year of his comedic birth he had made it through to the semi-finals of the BBC New Comedian of the Year, the North West Comedian of the Year Final, and later that year he had the honour of appearing on the BBC7 Radio Showcase Spanking New.
“A very charismatic and silly performer with a natural talent for storytelling, Steve never fails to entertain.”
Also appearing will be Steve Day, who describes himself as Britain’s only deaf comedian; if there are any others he hasn’t heard.
“Steve has been described as ‘warm and witty’ by the Scotsman and has received many other rave reviews whilst performing shows at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival,” the spokesman added.
“A disabled performer, Steve is more concerned with success in the mainstream comedy circuit, but is happy to ‘deaf it up’ as necessary if the money is ok and there are sandwiches.”
And completing the line-up is West Country comic Tom Glover, with his ‘engaging stage presence and relaxed charismatic style’ which will ‘make you see everyday life in an entirely different way.
In charge on the night is LOL boss and resident compere Damion Larkin.
Doors open 7.30pm, first act 8pm. Tickets cost £17.50, from the Grand Theatre in advance on 01253 290190 or online at www.lolcomedyclubs.co.uk.
