But the countdown to the big day has been two years in the making for couple of 10 years Kerry Wilkinson and Kevin Ross, who booked to wed on the same day back in 2016.

“We’ve been together for 10 years, engaged for four, and we booked our wedding two years ago,” said Kerry.

Kerry, from Walton-le-Dale, booked their big day for Saturday to coincide with the 49th wedding anniversary of her late great-grandparents, Ronald and Agnus Durrant.

“I was really close to them when I was little so when we found out the Saturday was their anniversary we had to book it. It fell perfectly,” the 34-year-old explained.

“When I heard about the Royal Wedding being on the same day I thought it was quite nice and they always have good weather for a Royal Wedding so it should be good! Prince Harry is also definitely one of our favourite Royals too.”

And when asked whether one eye will be on the Royal occasion, Kerry said that she “might have a little look at Meghan’s dress”.

“Her budget is substantially different to mine but my dress is quite similar to Kate Middleton’s so we will see who’s is best!”

Kerry’s mum, Yolanda Eccles, said: “Their big day is two years in the making. It’s going to be fantastic.”

The day also marks the FA Cup Final between Manchester United and Chelsea, with United supporter Kevin having to watch the game on catch-up along with the Royal Wedding.

“I don’t mind him missing that bit!”, Liverpool fan Kerry insisted.
