So many beers and sausages to try out
Almost 90 ales to try and gourmet food '“ there was certainly no excuse not to enjoy the three-day Sausage and Beer Festival in Whittingham.
More than 2,500 people packed into Whittingham Sports and Social Club for the annual event, sponsored by Taylor Wimpey.
Guests enjoyed a selection of 15 gastronome sausages and had a choice of almost 90 beers and ciders to wash it down with.
Musical acts included Lase Monkeys, The Heat, Pierpoint and Goosnargh group The Rockits.
The three-day event, organised by Whittingham Sports and Social Club, in conjunction with the Rotary Club of Longridge and North Preston, raised more than £15,000 for local charities.
Organiser Phil McDade says: “The event was absolutely fantastic –- we had 2,500 people coming through over the three days, which was about the same as previous years.
“The venue was rammed full – we simply could not have coped with any more.
“A £5 ticket covered the three days, so people came and went as they pleased.
“Some came for all three days – others just one.
“Sunday night was the busiest one, fitting in with the May Day Bank Holiday.
“We also organised a taxi service for the visitors, which worked a real treat.
“It all went swimmingly well and people were thanking us for it being so well organised.
“We had six or seven different musical acts over the three days, which were fabulous.
“There was a Queen tribute act which was very well received and of local group The Rockits went down well on Sunday.
“We do this every year as it is a great way to raise money for charity.
“Both the rotary club and Whittingham Sports and Social Club have their own charitable trusts, so the money gets split equally between them.
“I am really pleased we managed to raise so much money through our ticket sales - that’s why we do it.
“Everyone has a good time and we get to raise lots of money for good, local causes. It is a win, win all round.
“A lot of other clubs have organised beer festivals, but we believe we are the biggest and best one, as we offer great value for money and we are always packed out.
