Hundreds of budding young mountaineers descended on Preston for a major climbing festival.
The Youth Climbing Festival returned to the city’s top of the range facilities at West View Climbing and Leisure Centre, Ribbleton, Preston last weekend.
Preston Council organised the event.
CounVeronica Afrin, cabinet member for culture and leisure, was happy to see so many youngsters aged between eight and 16 trying a new hobby and getting active.
She said she wants more youngsters to get out of their comfort zone and use Preston’s nationally acclaimed climbing wall.
She said: “We are fortunate to have one of the best climbing walls in the country right here in Preston.
“The festival was a great opportunity for young people to try something new, develop their skills and also get out of the house, meet people and spend time with friends.”
