Preston based sight loss charity, Galloway’s Society for the Blind is offering people a chance to run in the Morrison’s Great North Run this September as they release their limited charity places.

The Morrison’s Great North Run is one of the most iconic half marathons in the world and 56,000 people pound the streets of the North East back in 2014.

Emma Russ, senior fundraiser at Galloway’s said: “We know that many people are left disappointed after the public ballot has been announced but this year we only have a really limited number of charity places too. It’s a fantastic event and we’d love to give local people the chance to experience the day.”

Galloway’s must raise £1million this year to continue providing their services to the increasing number of local blind and partially sighted people in Lancashire.

They do this through their talking newspaper service, guided holidays and activities, emotional support, and promotion of independence within the sighted world.

Emma added: “There’s a £50 registration fee to secure your place with Galloway’s and the fundraising target is £325.

“As a fundraising team, we’ll support you every step if the way with your training and your fundraising.”
