Daredevil workers from stores in St George’s Shopping Centre in Preston will “brave the shave” in aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital and Derian House Children’s Hospice, in a bid to raise as much money as possible for the two causes.

The charity stunt is part of the One Great Day campaign which runs nationwide this month. On Thursday, eight members of the shopping centre team will join with retail staff from the centre to have their heads shaved.

Among those taking part is security officer Alison Goodreid, 49, who has shoulder length hair.

General manager at the centre, Andrew Stringer, said: “Over the past few weeks we have asked every retailer in St George’s to nominate at least one member of staff to take part and we have been blown away by the response. We want to raise as much money as possible for these two charities to allow them to continue and expand on the fantastic services they offer to families when they need them the most.”
