It was 21 years yesterday since Derian House Children’s Hospice opened its doors.
To mark the occasion, staff at the centre in Astley Village, near Chorley, have planned a week of celebrations, including a Halloween-themed birthday party, day care events and a Winter Sparkle spectacular.
Today, the hospice is launching its #LittleMoments Twitter and Facebook campaign. The idea is that people use the hashtag to celebrate magic moments in their lives, such as the birth of a child, a romantic meal, or scoring a last-minute winning goal, and donate to the charity when they hit send.
It will follow the same lines as the no-makeup selfie campaign run by Cancer Research UK, and Derian hopes to attract some celebrity backers.
Hospice chief executive Georgina Cox said: “There are magic moments all around at Derian.
“Sadly a lot of the children we see at Derian have limited years to experience them, so we have to celebrate them all.”
Money raised by the campaign will help cover the £3.3m annual running costs of the hospice, which receives only seven per cent Government funding.
Share your #LittleMoments using the hashtag in your post, and don’t forget to text your donation - text LILM26 along with the amount of money you would like to donate to 70070. The amount can be: £1, £2, £3, £4, £5 or £10.
