Severe delays after two-car crash on M6

DELAYS of up to three hours are expected on the M6 southbound between Preston and Wigan, after a two-car collision.

Police and the Highways Agency have closed all three lanes of the south bound carriageway at junction 27 at Standish.

The incident happened at 12.51pm and the carriageway is not expected to reopen until 5.30pm.

A spokesman for the Highways Agency said: “The collision occurred between the slip roads and serious injuries have been reported.

“The police have closed the motorway while investigation work takes place. The diversion is up and over the slip roads and exits at junction 27.”

Delays have reached as far back as junction 31 at the Tickled Trout, Preston.

Normal traffic flows are expected from 8pm.
