Serious crash closes several roads in Bolton-le-Sands

An elderly woman has been airlifted to hospital following a two-car crash in Bolton-le-Sands.

Emergency services were called to Slyne Road in Bolton-le-Sands at 1.45pm on Monday, following reports of the accident.

Firefighters spent 55 minutes at the scene, cutting the woman out of her car before she could be flown to the Royal Preston Hospital. Another person was treated at the scene before being taken away by road ambulance.

It is believed that occupants in both cars were elderly, but no details of injuries have been released.

Currently the road between Hest Bank and Bolton-Le-Sands is closed and is expected to remain so for several hours.

There are also police blocks on Greenwood Avenue, Throstle Grove, the Coastal Road and the bypass road. Cars are also being turned around on Bottomdale Road.
