The village of Wray near Lancaster is now enjoying the status of being one of the best connected places in the world now the B4RN community broadband network reached it.

The first Wray connection was tested and went live on New Year’s Eve morning in the village hall.

The next few connections went live in the afternoon.

On New Year’s Day the Methodist church became live to be the probably the fastest chapel in the world.

As a result, it now has some unique options available with the use of the world class connection, such as video streaming of church services.

A spokesman for B4RN said the community had worked extremely hard to bring the network to the famous “scarecrow festival” village.

The farmers and diggers have had some extremely rough terrain to cope with over the fells.

Eighteen kilometres of core was laid by workers to reach the village.
