It has been a sad week in Lancashire with tragic road accidents dominating the news all week.

Eight of the most read stories on the Evening Post’s website this week involve tragedies on the road.

54-year-old motorcyclist Michael Rushworth, from Leyland, was killed on the A6 link road on Sunday and Mark McNulty, from Lostock Hall, was killed in a seperate traffic incident in Cumbria.

News that Preston’s Winckley Square nuns are to leave the city also sparked a big debate online.

A man from Leyland has died after colliding with a road barrier on Sunday.

At around 4.25pm, the 54-year-old motorcyclist named as Michael Rushworth, left the M65 at junction 1, Bamber Bridge, then travelled on to the A6 link road where he lost control of his black Honda bike.

No-one was trapped in the vehicles and Leyland Fire Service helped the ambulance administer first aid to the casualties, who had minor injuries.

Man rescued after six-car crash

A man had to be cut out of his car after a six-vehicle smash in Croston.

Emergency services were called to Moor Road just before 4pm and found a man trapped in a car. Firefighters used hydraulic equipment to free him.
