For last year's event click here: /village-actors-to-open-action-packed-festival-in-ribchester-1-8641257Courage Calls To Courage Everywhere will celebrate 100 years since the passing of The Representation of the People Act, which gave some women the vote. Millicent Fawcett’s work for the Suffrage Movement was recognised by a statue in Parliament Square in April – the first woman to be honoured in this way.

This play is an original piece written by Bridget Rabbitts. She said: “I chose to represent public attitudes towards these tirelessly campaigning women, rather than tell the history of the Suffragette movement. It pays homage to the many followers of both Millicent Fawcett and Mrs Emmeline Pankhurst. It’s a reflection of a century ago, demonstrating typical Lancashire attitudes, all researched and set in a fictionalised setting.”
