A new opt in garden waste service was introduced by Chorley Council at the start of May meaning the brown bin is now for paper and cardboard. As some households had more than one brown bin for garden waste the council is urging those with surplus brown bins to get in touch so they can be collected and redistributed to properties that have not had a brown bin before.

Asim Khan, director at Chorley Council, said: “We are now focussing our attention on collecting any surplus brown bins so they aren’t clogging up people’s gardens. It’s really simple to request online at chorley.gov.uk and if people then leave them out in an accessible place so we can see them from the road we’ll get them taken away as soon as we can.”
