Residents Denise Hartley and Lynn-Marie Williams had contacted the Guardian today individually fearing that they would find themselves without water over the weekend.

Denise said: "Eventually last night United Utilities delivered some bottled water so at least we could get a drink."

A spokesperson for Places for People said: “We understand the frustration our customers have felt during this brief time without running water and apologise for any inconvenience.

"We worked closely with United Utilities and our specialist contractors to fix the problem, which was caused by a split in the water pump.

"The specialist parts needed to complete the repairs are due to be fitted on Monday.

"A temporary fix was put in place on Thursday and following testing, has allowed the water to be switched back on this morning.”
