For those lucky enough to receive the latest technological devices this festive season, Lancashire Police are encouraging members of the public to register their new gadgets.

Items such as games consoles; laptops; tablets and smart phones will be highly desirable to thieves and burglars and should be registered on online on the national property register via

And it is those newer items that haven’t previously been registered that PCSO Stephen Connolly says will become targets for thieves.

He said: “Many people will have been given electronics as presents at Christmas.

“The new generation games consoles are highly desirable to thieves as they are lightweight, portable and easy to sell on.

“We’ve already had several of the consoles reported stolen in recent weeks.

PCSO Connolly adds: “Registering your valuables on Immobilise improves your chances of getting it back if it is lost or stolen.”

Immobilise can be used by members of the public and businesses to register their valued possessions or company assets for free and is used by all UK Police forces to trace owners of lost and stolen property.

Neighbourhood policing teams in Preston will be holding registration events throughout the year and are working with city centre retailers stocking high value electronics to raise awareness.
