Penwortham Town Council has waded into a dispute over a one-way road.

Last month, Lancashire County Council’s scrutiny committee upheld a decision to permanently make Rawsthorne Road partly one-way in a bid to stop it being used as a rat run.

Coun John Fillis, cabinet member for highways and transport, said the original decision was based on a consultation showing residents were in favour of the trial scheme.

But Peter Snook, representing 114 residents, argued the council had not surveyed the majority of homeowners, who did not want the change.

Members of Penwortham Town Council are unhappy with LCC’s decision and have written to Coun Fillis requesting a review of the decision and of the decision making process to ensure all those consulted with are “evidenced effectively.”
