A special guest was the first to pull a pint at the newly refurbished Fleece Inn in Penwortham.

Town mayor Coun Susan Prynn was invited to open the new-look pub on Saturday following its £165,000 transformation.

The Liverpool Road pub, which is owned by Spirit Pub Company, reopened this week showcasing a more traditional décor with some new signature pieces of furniture and contemporary fixtures.

The bar area has additionally been completely revamped to offer new products including craft beers and premium lagers, as will the menu.

General manager Jim Kearns, said: “We were honored to have Susan Prynn join us for the opening of the pub.

“As Penwortham Town Mayor she is a true pillar of the community with a great interest in investments in the town like this.

“The opening day was a real success with great feedback from regulars and visitors alike on the menu and interiors. My team and I look forward to welcoming more guests in the coming weeks and are sure they’ll be flocking in.”
