Sahara: £9,000 from Awards for All fund.
The cash will be used for a support programme for black and minority ethnic (BME) women in the community.
Manager Zafar Coupland said: “This project is about empowering BME women from deprived wards who face literacy and numeracy issues, mental health problems.
“The project is aiming to help them reduce mental health problems, develop self esteem and build a programme tailor-made around them.
“It is aimed at women who are really isolated and they get one-to-one support, especially around the healthy lifestyle and the issues they face around mental health.
“We’ve had a three-year mental health project and getting this money has really enhanced that, allowing women to be able to carry on.”
