WINNERS of an unusual competition have bags of reasons to celebrate after scooping prizes for their holiday snaps.
Preston Markets customers were asked to take a selfie while on their summer holidays, with a bag from the market.
From sandy beaches and the top of mountains to outside Wembley Stadium, the entries flooded in and the winners have now been announced.
The Mayor of Preston, Coun Margaret McManus, judged the entries which fell into three categories: Best picture of the markets bag on Holiday in the UK, best picture of the markets bag on holiday abroad, and most unusual place a markets bag is pictured.
Entries featured the markets bag in Tokyo, Australia, Norway and Denmark as well as Anglesey, Scarborough, Isle of Wight, Liverpool and the Lake District.
Coun McManus said: “I thoroughly enjoyed judging the competition and seeing the different the places the bag was photographed.
“All the entries were really good and I’d like to thank everyone who entered and say congratulations to the winners.”
A winner from each category won £25 in Preston Market vouchers.
The winner of the best picture of the markets bag on holiday in the UK was Maureen Robinson, pictured at Wembley after watching Preston North End win at the play off finals.
The winner of the best picture of the bag on holiday abroad was Fred Donaldson, cooking burgers and sausages bought from Adrian Livesey’s butchers and cooked on his BBQ on Fredrickstad campsite.
And the winner of the most unusual place a markets bag was pictured was Andy Farringdon, pictured in the sand dunes on sunny Anglesey.
