Documents have been submitted to the town hall for the Trinity Student Village on Great Shaw Street and Foundry Court on Brook Street.

Earlier this month the under construction Canterbury Hall development on Garstang Road was granted permission to have keyworkers and apprentices as tenants, following on from The Tramshed on Marsh Lane also being given the green light in February.

Several members voiced concerns as to whether initial planning permission would have been granted for student and private worker use, rather than the conditions being amended later.

Hencap Housing Properties Ltd is applying for a legal certificate to include non-students as tenants at Foundry Court as its current planning permission does not restrict it to student use only.

The firm has claimed “the use of the building by private occupants will not change the residential character of the site or area.”

Its bid for Trinity Village is for conditions attached to the previous permission to be varied, citing the previous decision at the Tramshed as precedent.
