Preston stabbing: Teenage boy, 16, dies in hospital as three men due to appear in court

A 16-year-old boy who was left fighting for his life following a stabbing in Preston has died, police have confirmed.

The 16-year-old victim died in hospital yesterday (December 27), four days after he was found with stab wounds to his chest and legs at an address in Chatham Place on Wednesday (December 23).

Three teenagers arrested on Christmas Eve were charged with attempted murder in relation to the stabbing yesterday evening.

Police are due to confirm whether these charges will be upgraded to murder later today (December 28).

Andy Willis, Force Incident Manager at Lancashire Police, said: "I assume at some point the charges will be amended and they will face charges of murder."

Jamie Dixon, 18, of Clayton Avenue, Leyland, was charged by detectives last night, along with a 16-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy who cannot be identified for legal reasons.

They are due to appear before Preston magistrates today.
