A school has been closed following flash-flooding in Preston.

Pupils from Archbishop Temple School in Fulwood were being sent home from the St Vincent’s Road site, following torrential rain on Monday morning.

Parts of the school were flooded, and crews from Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service were on hand.

A statement from the fire service said heavy rainfall had resulted in the flooding of a kitchen and basement, and the water was up to a foot deep in places.

Firefighters from Fulwood were pumping out the flood water.

The maths and English departments in the school have been affected.

Nobody was hurt.
