Preston revealed as one of the UK's 'quick house sale hotspots'

Flying Homes reveals the UK’s quick house sale hotspots.

The analysis looks at the address locations of over 16,000 customer inquiries received from 2013 to 2017. The results for the top 25 out of the 100 largest towns (with a minimum of 5 or more customers) are displayed as a percentage of each town’s population.

Findings for the 100 largest towns/ cities in the UK.

The highest percentage of quick sale inquiries originate from northern towns characterised by declining industries such as coal mining, shipbuilding, steelmaking, textiles, fishing - and a few declining seaside towns.

The northern towns of Barnsley, Doncaster, and Rotherham in South Yorkshire appear first, second and fifth. Oldham, Preston, and Wigan in the North West, third, fourth and ninth. Unsurprisingly few affluent towns appear anywhere.

1 - Barnsley2 - Doncaster3 - Oldham

Findings for all UK towns.

A different picture emerges when all UK towns are considered and not just the largest. Also, hotspot rankings change depending on the filter applied for the minimum number of customer inquiries per town.

For example, for 3, 10, 30 and 80 customer inquiries, then the quick sale hotspot rank adjusts:

Filter applied - A minimum of 3 received per town:

1 - Whitchurch2 - Bilston3 - Barking

Filter applied - A minimum of 10 received per town:

1 - Bilston2 - Saltburn by the Sea3 - Wigton

Filter applied - A minimum of 30 received per town:

1 - Bishop Auckland2 - Pontefract3 - Barnsley

Filter applied - A minimum of 80 received per town:

1 - Pontefract2 - Barnsley3 - Doncaster
