Preston Proms was the perfect way to welcome in the New Year
The Charter Theatre at Preston’s Guild Hall was packed out for an evening of musical favourites at the Last Night of the Preston Proms 2013 on New Year’s Eve.
Music was performed by the Manchester Concert Orchestra.
The annual celebration also included a midnight proms finale and a fantastic indoor fireworks display.

Hide AdThe evening included favourites such as Rule Britannia and the Land of Hope and Glory.
John Pryce-Jones, conductor of the Manchester Concert Orchestra, lead the celebrations which also featuredThe world-renowned concert orchestra also played classics such as Bolero, Die Fledermaus Overture, Liberty Bell March, Swan Lake Finale, Light Cavalry Overture, Elgar’s Nimrod and The Dambusters March.
Tenor John Pierce and baritone Kevin Greenlaw also featured.
Hannah Slater, marketing officer at the Guild Hall, said: “It was very successful, it was nice and full, it was very nearly at capacity for what was on sale.
“Everybody raved about it on the way out.

“Everyone got a flag on their seat and some streamers.
“They had Big Ben going at midnight and a big countdown.”
