The region’s power network has completed its biggest awareness campaign, following research showing the majority of people in Preston didn’t know who to call during a power cut.
Independent research revealed 84 percent of customers in the Preston area were unsure of who to call during a power cut and 57 percent wrongly believed they should contact their supplier.
In response a three-month campaign targeted customers with more than 1.7million leaflets delivered to homes and businesses as well as newspaper, radio and online adverts.
Jonny Morgan from ENWL said: “It’s vital that people in the North West know that we are on hand 24 hours a day, seven days a week if they need us, so they’re not left in the dark.”
In a power cut customers can contact ENWL by phone on 0800 195 4141, via website at www.electricitynorthwest.co.uk, Twitter @ElectricityNW, or facebook.com/ElectricityNorthWest for live updates.
Vulnerable customers can also sign up to the company’s Priority Services Register by phoning 0800 195 4141.
