It took Dan Alvarez, Matt Pope, Ceri Kay, Lauren Brindle, Steve Wignall and Chris Conlon from HMRC’s Preston-based Customer Services Group around 10 hours to achieve the 1,532m total ascent of Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, which also involves a 39km circular trek. The group’s effort followed a raffle held back in the office in St Mary’s Street which raised £130 and launched the start of a six-month partnership between a group of HMRC staff and the charity that will lead to further fund-raising events over the coming months.Dan said: “Rosemere Cancer Foundation was chosen by a number of colleagues within HRMC Customer Service group after wanting to support a local charity that benefits people from across Lancashire.“Not only are we helping the charity raise funds for its 20 years Anniversary Appeal, but we recognise the benefits to self-wellbeing through volunteering our own time to fund-raising and supporting the local community. It is proving to be very rewarding.”Cathy Skidmore, Rosemere Cancer Foundation’s Trust and corporate fund-raising manager, said: “We are very grateful to Dan and the team at HMRC for choosing us as their charity partner for the next six months. “I know staff are making plans for some exciting events and they can be assured we will do whatever we can to support them in their fund-raising.”
