A kind-hearted fundraiser is putting her best foot forward to raise funds for a Preston charity this year.

Gina Biggs, 25, from Moor Nook, Preston is undertaking a huge challenge by running not one, not two, but 15 marathons to raise cash for Heartbeat.

The Evening Post launched a campaign at the end of September to raise £37,000 for charity.

The charity, which provides rehabilitation, education and research for heart patients in Lancashire, is moving from its base in Harris Park, Fulwood, to the former National Football Museum in Deepdale.

The refit of the building is estimated to cost £285,000, and while the charity has used money from its reserves, it now needs help with the final push.

Gina, said: “Running is a hobby of mine and something I really enjoy doing. I have run in marathons in the past; however I have never done so many so close together.

“I do tire and struggle in races sometimes so it really will be a challenge for me. I decided to run in aid of our local charity Heartbeat as the work they do with local people in our community is amazing.”

Gina has already taken part in her first marathon in Liverpool and the second one is this Sunday in Newcastle.

She will also run in Blackpool, Bolton, Chester and York. She will then be heading over to Wales and even across to Ireland.

Lisa Riding Heartbeat fundraiser said: “Gina really is an inspiration to us all. On behalf of us all here at Heartbeat we would like to wish her well in here crazy ‘15 in 15 Marathon Challenge’.

“If you would like to support Gina in her challenge visit her just giving page, alternatively make a donation over the telephone by calling Heartbeat on 01772 717147.”

The money Georgina raises will go towards the on-going work provided to local people that require heart rehabilitation by providing an exercise-based Cardiac Rehabilitation programme, fully supervised by trained instructors, to those recovering from heart attack, surgery or stroke and supports those at risk of developing these conditions.
