The Tipping family – made up of dad Mark, mum Nicola and brothers Sam, 13, Joe, 12, and Isaac, nine – spent countless hours over two weeks preparing the winter wonderland at their home in Valentines Meadow, Cottam, ahead of last Saturday’s Christmas lights switch-on.

Since 2012 the family has created its festive feast of illuminated Santas, glowing Christmas animals and artificial snow to raise money for Rosemere Cancer Foundation, Derian House Children’s Hospice, Preston Headway and the Jordan Grant 18 Memorial Fund (CRY – Cardiac Risk in the Young).

Scaffolding manager Mark said: “For a lot of people, us included, the festive season now starts when we turn our lights on.

“We are extremely grateful to everyone who comes along.

“It takes quite some effort to get them ready but every donation, even if it’s just a few pence, makes it all worthwhile as all the money is shared between four great local charities.”
