Preston dad's marathon achievement
Jamie Wareing, who lives in Ingol, had taken up long distance running to follow in the footsteps of his father who died in 2015 after completing a city fun run.
And Jamie, who is a city council refuse collector, conquered the capital spectacle to raise funds for a charity cause because his two-year-old daughter suffers from a rare genetic condition.

He said: “It was tough, we could have done with another week of rain. I’d been training up here in wind and snow so to run with the temperature above 20 degrees made it difficult.
"But the support was fantastic, I had my earphones in at first but couldn’t hear any of the music because of the noise from the crowd.
“I had my name on my vest and people were cheering us on from mile one right through to the end.”

Hide AdJamie’s dad Derrick was himself a marathon runner who died months before Elsie was born.
His endurance efforts have helped raise more than £3k for the Tuberous Sclerosis Association (TSA). And he is now hoping to enter an overseas marathon after completing the Manchester half-marathon in May.
Tuberous Sclerosis Complex is a genetic condition that can lead to growths in organs of the body, but those most commonly affected are the brain, eyes, heart, kidney, skin and lungs.
