A Preston-based theatre company has chosen its home city to premier a brand new production next week.
Postcard Theatre will perform A Grey Divide at the Ham and Jam Cafe on Monday and Tuesday (October 30 & 31, 2017) before taking it on tour.
“We believe this play will provide a different type of theatre experience and we are excited to see and hear what the people of Preston think of it,” said director, John-Mark Reid (pictured), who is originally from Longridge. “We love meeting new creatives and having such a close connection to Preston made this the ideal place to start our tour.”
A Grey Divide is written by Miami-based playwright Juan C Sanchez and has been produced in partnership with John-Mark. The production is touring cafes across the north with the actors performing in and around the audience to provide a real ‘fly on the wall’ type viewing experience.
One of the actors, Neil Procter, is also a Lancashire native and now Preston resident as well as an ex-acting student from the University of Central Lancashire.
Neil auditioned for the role of Jason through open auditions and has been working on the character with the company for the last six weeks.
Playing opposite him is Irish actor, Marcella Hazel who lists roles in Coronation Street, Emmerdale and Cold Feet amongst her professional credits.
Playwright, Juan C Sanchez said: “Working with Postcard Theatre has been nothing short of extraordinary. Not only are they committed to telling the story on the page; they’re also whip-smart in everything they do.”
