Lancashire-based Bowker Motor Group received planning permission in January to build the new 43,000 square feet centre, the 40th Porsche Centre in the UK. Three existing buildings, including a former sawmill, had to be demolished to make space for the new build.

Paul Bowker, chief executive of the Bowker Motor Group, said: “The demolition has been a complete success. And we’d like to thank the team at Pete Marquis for their hard work and dedication in the smooth running of the project.”

He added: “We’re now pressing on with the rest of the development. Certainly, this time next year we expect the transformation of the site will be complete. We are looking forward to announcing the appointment of a local construction company in the very near future. And we’ll be able to give a definitive picture of timescales after that.”
