Power cut hits homes in Preston

A power cut has hit parts of Preston this morning (January 14), leaving a number of homes without electricity.

The power cut has affected around 21 homes in and around Fishwick Parade, where families have been without power since 22.10pm last night.

Electricity North West said its engineers are on site and the power failure is due to an an "unexpected incident" with the underground cable that provides electricity to homes.

It said households might have a bit of a wait on their hands before power is restored, with repairs not expected to be completed until around 1.45pm.

An Electricity North West spokesman said: "We are sorry our customers are experiencing a power cut in the PR1 area of Preston this morning.

"We are currently investigating the issue and we estimate to have power restored by 1.44pm.

"The power cut in the area has been caused by an unexpected incident with the underground cable that provides electricity to homes."
